How to Master the “No Makeup” Skincare Routine with Pure Culture

A no-makeup look begins with fresh, glowing skin.

Living in a tropical climate has gotten us closer to embracing a “no makeup” look. In fact, we've become accustomed to going au naturel, and many have seen an improvement in their skin as a result. Gone are the days when we preferred using several different products for day and night.

If you're not a fan of full glam or prefer a simple, everyday makeup routine, the beloved "no-makeup makeup look" might be just what you're looking for. Typically, this involves using light coverage face products, natural-looking brows, cream blush, minimal mascara, and so on.

However, there's a new trend in the beauty world that's been making waves on TikTok: the no-makeup makeup look without any actual makeup, or the clean girl aesthetic that highlights a minimalist and fresh approach not only to fashion, but also to beauty. Initially, it might sound too good to be true, but the concept is quite logical. Many high-quality skincare products are capable of reducing redness to give a radiant, natural glow to the skin.

Understanding First Your Skin Type

"Before we discuss the best products and routines for you, it's crucial to understand your skin type, which can be categorized as dry, oily, combination, or sensitive. Knowing your skin type is essential for tailoring a skincare routine that effectively addresses your primary skin concerns," said Dhez Canlas, a beauty advisor at Pure Culture.

For starters, dry skin is characterized by flaky, rough, or itchy patches, while oily skin is marked by a shiny complexion and larger pores, making it prone to acne and blackheads. Combination skin features both oily and dry areas, typically with an oily T-zone (i.e. forehead, nose, chin) and dry cheeks. Sensitive skin, on the other hand, is easily irritated and prone to redness and reactions from certain products.

It's essential to keep in mind that any skin type can also be sensitive or prone to acne breakouts, although those with normal skin may be less likely to encounter these issues. Nevertheless, using the appropriate products can effectively care for your skin and manage concerns like sensitivity and acne blemishes. Mastering the “No Makeup” Skincare Routine

The Pure Culture team interviewed three users of our products to tell us more about themselves, their skincare routines, and why they love to use clean beauty products.

What does your skincare routine look like?

Camille, an abstract painter, approaches skincare as thoughtfully and meticulously as her painting process. "I use the Wild Algae collection in the morning along with an eye cream and SPF. At night, before bed, I use the same Algae collection and I added the Dream Drops recently. During the day, I refresh my skin with the Bulgarian Rose Elixir or Dream Drops too," she explains.

Andrea, a young UGC creator focusing on beauty, lifestyle, and fashion, has a simple skincare routine. "I do [skincare] twice a day—cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen."

Kaity doing yoga during Pure Culture's community meetup

A work-at-home mom with two active boys who enjoys reading, going to the beach, and practicing yoga, Kaity has been using Pure Culture for two straight years already. "For me, less is more. At night, I wash my face with my trusty Cetaphil Cleanser, then I use the Wild Algae Glow Up Serum, the Quench Crème, and any eye cream I have at home. In the morning, I spray on the Wild Algae Super Skin Tonic before putting on my makeup, and then I’m good to go. Recently, I discovered their True Moisture Silk Rose All-Over Matte Oil and brought it to the beach—it gave my body a healthy glow and isn’t sticky at all! Love the smell too!" she narrated.

Among the many products of Pure Culture, what’s your favorite?

Among the numerous products she has, Camille's favorite is the Wild Algae Super Skin Tonic. "It helps dry pimples fast," she says. However, the Dream Drops are quickly becoming another favorite. "I'm starting to love the Dream Drops too and am looking forward to seeing the results," she added.

The Super Skin Tonic is also Kaity’s favorite. “It’s light on the face and doesn’t make my skin oily and it's a great base.”

"I’ve been wanting to reduce my puffy and chubby face for so long! Then I found out about Pure Culture's Rose Quartz S-shaped Gua Sha. What I really love about this product is it enhances blood circulation and lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness on your face and neck. Think of it like massaging your face," said Andrea.

Why do you love using Pure Culture?

For Camille, her love for Pure Culture stems from the visible results and the trustworthy ingredients used in their products. “Because it works and I trust the ingredients used! I don’t really like using makeup because I’m lazy, but honestly, Pure Culture makes my skin glow, so the no-makeup look works perfectly,” she says. As someone who prefers a no-makeup look due to her self-professed laziness, Camille appreciates how Pure Culture makes her skin glow effortlessly.

"I love and enjoy using Pure Culture because, aside from caring for our skin, they also consider our environment when creating their products. Plus, they really cater to Filipina skin, making each item perfect for our tropical country," Kaity shared.
